BE A PERSON who takes advantage of the opportunities life provides to show love and grace to others. Sometimes the opportunities can be subtle and sometimes the opportunities are ones in which we never wish we had. Some can be a kind word at the grocery store that puts a smile on a passing shopper. Some however can be harder to give as the opportunity to show grace or love may be to the person you trusted the most and caused you the most pain you may have ever experienced. Sometimes it is easy to show grace and love and sometimes very very hard.
If we claim to be a Christian we are new creations in Christ and we have the Holy Spirit within us and that spirit wants nothing more than for us to become more “christ like”. So, what does that mean? SHOW OTHERS LOVE AND GRACE. It sounds correct. It sounds like the right thing to do. If we REALLY were honest we would agree that we should show love in the smallest of ways and the biggest. We should forgive whether a small offense or a big one. We should move away from bitterness and resentment and more towards a love like Christ’s love for us. Easier said than done.
However, it is more natural to want to hurt when you have been hurt. It is more natural to want to self-protect yourself from further pain thus limiting yourself to be able to show love to those who may have hurt you. IT IS MORE NATURAL TO DO THE NATURAL, which is often not the best, as opposed to the super natural. The super natural is being influenced, guided, directed by the Spirit inside of us. If we allow the spirit to work in us our interior world begins to resemble more of the interior world of Jesus and that is most important to the Holy Spirit inside of us. Not our blessings, our comfort, and not even our happiness matter more. Become more Christlike.
