The Fight that Changes Everything

Writer: Damon Eddy Damon Eddy

This morning, I shared something with a friend that’s been on my heart. Over the past six or seven years, it often felt like I was in a dark arena, a ring with no spectators, no light, just me fighting for so much. Every round, every week, sometimes every day, sometimes every month, felt like getting knocked down and having to get back up again, but sometimes not feeling like you have the strength to get yourself up off the mat.

For so many of us, it feels like we’re in the ring getting our butts kicked round after round, whether that’s in healed relationships, kids who may be having a hard time, business challenges, health challenges, we just keep getting knocked down to the mat. But there is hope. Like Les Brown said, “If we can look up, we can get up.”

As I step into 2025, though, something has shifted. I’m still in the ring, we always are in some way, fighting for our marriages, our kids, our health, our dreams, but this isn’t the same dark place. Now, the arena is outside. The air is fresh, the views are beautiful, and I’m recharged. I see the blessings and the beauty of life, even in the fight.

God is still in my corner, guiding me. My spirit feels renewed. My marriage continues to heal but grows and gets better and better. I see my kids are continuing to grow into loving individuals on their own journeys, and I feel a renewed passion for what brought a beautiful lifestyle for my family and my kids growing up. That is a passion for getting back into real estate, helping people buy, sell, and invest. It feels good to get excited about that again.

Yes, life is hard, and the fight never really ends. But when God is in your corner and you see the blessings around you, it changes everything. The fight feels different. The air is fresher. The purpose is clearer.

Here’s to fighting the good fight and making an impact, in business, in love, and in life.
